It's been a long time since I made icons of my favourite actress, Emily Blunt and I was ready to take on the themes at celebrity20in20 this time. Making it just in the nick of time! The favourite role icon is from my favourite movie ever: Wild Target featuring Emily Blunt, Rupert Grint and Bill Nighy. It's such a fun movie! The fantasy one is from a Vogue photoshoot of hers for the Mary Poppins sequel. All icons are free to take and use. Comments are loved.
I finished New World Witchery by Cory Thomas Hutcheson. Very interesting book, and I enjoyed it a lot. It could have definitely delved deeper into some things, but it's a very broad subject and already very large, so I understand why it didn't.
I read The Fifth Di... March 2025, a short anthology of sf/f/h stories that a friend was published in. Hers and one other were really the only good stories in there.
I read First Test Graphic Novel by Devin Grayson and Becca Farrow, an adaptation of First Test by Tamora Pierce (Protector of the Small #1). Very good! Protector of the Small is one of my favorites, and this really made me want to reread it.
I started Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism by Amanda Montell, which I'd started a few years ago but had to return to the library before I got very far. I think I'm just about where I made it to last time lol
Ficwise, I am, unsurprisingly at this point, still on Gradence. Currently I'm reading bound to lose, bound to win by Anonymous. It's been quite awhile since I've read an arranged marriage fic, so it's been fun!
Watching
I got almost to the end of Your Sky, then started over with the roommate to get her into it. It worked! We're now almost at the end again lol It remains fun and cute, even with the surprisingly angsty storyline with Teerak's dad.
AEW as usual, plus a PPV. More on that, as well as the GCW show, on another post soon. Hopefully.
Listening
Listened to a bit more Jer while I worked yesterday. If anyone has other ska recs, lemme know!
Writing
I wrote a poem for a NaNoPoMo prompt, plus another non prompt poem.
Showing off some cool stuff I've bought in the last several months. Some pins, a bunch of stationery, and my Last Binding special edition pre-order finally arrived!! Click on the pics to enlarge.
Despite how this post makes it look I have been very economical this month!! No-buy July for me...if only because I have been saving up for an upcoming anime convention, so really I'm just biding my time in spending too much money sjdhfksjds
I did however drop some dough on this for-charity Jayvik zine. (Pre-orders are still open, go check them out!) I love the merch and art they've shown, and they chose a charity that aims to help people with mobility disabilities to donate the proceeds to. Everything looks awesome, I'm excited to eventually have it in hand.
I'm drafting this post before going to bed because I forgot I wanted to make it until now. Uh-oh. By the time you see it I will have finished and posted it, which will probably be tomorrow morning while I have coffee and breakfast. Which is a bit like time travel, in a way. Edit from tomorrow: Unfortunately I left all the dishes to be done last night so I had to do them before I could work on this post again, so there will be no blogging while sipping coffee and eating jam on toast... alas. In fact, it will be finished and posted after lunch instead. o7
For today, more of the usual: sunshine_revival and some other stuff. Mostly going back on some previous posts, and rambling about recent webdev adventures (the brainrot is fierce these days.)
Journaling: What is making you smile these days? Create a top 10 list of anything you want to talk about. Creative: Write from the perspective of a house or other location.
Last week I finished the main story of Sensei! I Like You So Much!, or SenSuki, an Early Access business sim/visual novel about shipping fandom otaku. HowLongToBeat says the game’s story mode is 15 hours long, but it took me 34 because I spent a lot of time on optional minigames and itabeya decorating.
Whenever I acquire a new obsession, I look for blogposts about it, but with new and niche stuff, there’s often not a lot to read. I couldn’t find a lot of talk about the game online, so I want to add my two cents with this little—or not so little—ramble here, since it’s (at least tangentially) related to my interest in figure collecting and oshikatsu.
I’d seen mentions of this game pop up in some of my online hangouts and eventually decided to give it a try despite its Early Access state and the fact that I’m not really a fan of visual novels or business sims. I was mainly curious to see how it would tackle some of my Greatest Passions™, fandom and shipping, and the discount during the Steam Storyteller sale sealed the deal.
Almost 70 hours later, my main takeaway is that the developers’ passion for the subject matter clearly shines through. It very much felt like a game made by a peer rather than an outside observer, and I appreciate the unabashed sincerity throughout.

Wow, that's a lot of icons I made for The Untamed after a long time. It was fun and challenging! We had a provided textures round at tvmovie20in20 . Seriously, an only-texture themed round was kind of hard but I also had fun trying to use them in a variety of ways. You can get all the individual textures from the challenge post here. All icons are free to take and use. Comments are loved!

I'm running into a brand new unexpected issue now that I'm posting again: I want to post too much. The posting instincts have taken over. I have to restrain them. (Why? I don't know. It's one of those weird things I get caught-up on. Hopefully it'll pass. I say "hopefully" for me because this means the poor people subscribed to this journal will be getting daily post on their reading page as a trade-off.)
Anyway! On the menu today: more sunshine_revival, some journal stuff, and some icons.
